Development of caravanning fairs in Germany
The trade fair industry has been severely affected by the pandemic in recent years. This also applied to many national caravanning trade fairs, which were unable to take place due to the difficult conditions. The hoped-for restart in 2023 was successful: Both “abf Hannover”, “Reise+Camping” in Essen, “oohh!” in Hamburg and Munich’s “f.re.e” celebrated their comeback last year. The vast majority of national trade fairs were able to exceed the visitor numbers of their last edition despite the tense economic situation and gloomy consumer climate.
The CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf, which was held as the world’s leading trade fair and beacon of the industry even during the pandemic, sent out an extremely positive signal for the entire caravanning industry last year with around 254,000 visitors and over 750 exhibitors.
Development of the worldwide caravaning fairs
Parallel to the German trade fair landscape, many international trade fairs also had a successful year: “All in CARAVANING” in Beijing celebrated its comeback after a one-year break. The CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf traditionally marks the start of the European trade fair season and was able to exceed its previous year’s result both in terms of the number of visitors and exhibitors.
This positive trend also continued in September at the trade fairs in Jönköping with 31,000 visitors and Paris with 94,000 visitors, which also exceeded their visitor results from 2022.

The “Kampeer & Caravan” in Utrecht (40,000 visitors), “The Motorhome & Caravan Show” in Birmingham (106,000 visitors), the “Suisse Caravan Salon” in Bern (59,000 visitors) and the “Caravan Salon Austria” in Wels (46,000 visitors) also recorded an increase in visitor numbers.
